Church Growth – China

August 3, 2009

In recent years more than 500,000 people per year have been baptised and received into the church – and this figure does not take account of vast numbers who have been converted through unregistered house churchse.

In 1999 the TSPM issued a figure of 12 million Protestants in China. This is an extremely low estimate, based on baptised or registered adult members of TSPM -supervised churches and meeting points. It does not include children under 18, or the millions who meet in unregistered house churches.

In 1980 the TSPM were claiming 1 million Protestants.
