The Christian faith is mysterious to the core. It is about things and beings that ultimately can’t be put into words. Language fails. And if we do definitively put God into words, we have at that very moment made God something God is not…The mystery is the truth.

Yet the God of Scripture has revealed Himself. Yes, God is not known exhaustively in His being, but there are words we can speak of Him if for no other reason than the fact that He has authorised those words about Himself by His own self-disclosure. Isn’t the incarnation the foundation of the knowledge of God? The only begotten who was at the Father’s side has made Him known.
