Why the Byzantine text is less reliable

(The)Byzantine text was marked by…the conflation of divergent readings from the earlier text-forms…This in itself suggests that the Byzantine text is later than (the Alexandrian and Western)…and there is the further consideration that the Byzantine text is not represented in the translations or citations of the first three centuries A.D., whereas the other types of text are. Chrysostom is the first Greek Father whose Biblical citations show a Byzantine character (A.D. 347-407).
